We Will Not Be Silent.

"There is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind." - Virginia Woolf

Despite Internet censorship at work, we are still able to get through, and we will not be silent.

We are Legion. There is no single "mole" or "leak". And therein lies our strength. We are all in this together. We will not be afraid, and we will not be intimidated, and we will not be silent.

We support and encourage each other with a knowing smile and a wink at work, but we don't do our speaking out there, so you needn't have removed internet access from the wards including the Emergency Department so that Doctors can't look something up when they need to.

In the defense of the patients and Community we strive to serve, we are angry but non-violent. We are defending Human Rights here. The right of equal access to health care. The right of peaceful protest. The right to speak out when we see something detrimental to the Community we have been comissioned to serve.

Australia is a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We are Australians who serve Australians and visitors from other nations to our beautiful city of the Blue Mountains, and we claim those Universal Human Rights for them and for us.

  1. I agree that one strength lies in numbers.I have just been told about this initiative and will be contributing in as constructive a way as possible. Accurate information about various issues need to be more widely known as well as various opinion. Imagine if everyone does a bit.

  2. The censorship at Westmead and SWAHS epitomises behaviour more akin to Dictatorships.
Information from Public Bodies ought ot be trasparent , readily available to the staff and public and not sanitised as it is at Westmead.
A GENUINE independent Public Inquiry into the operations of SWAHS and Westmead and one whereby the outcomes are not sanitised.

  3. What is deplorable is the inactivity of the NSWNA at Westmead Hospital where they permitt the widespread bullying , harassing and intimidation of nursing staff continue.
Who does the NSWNA represent at Westmead themselves or the Nurses who pay their fees. Where have they been when unsafe models of care have been introduced ? Where are they when the Nurse to patient ratio is clearly insufficient to deliver appropriate patient care? Why do they support the destructive dilution of the skill mix. It is time that an alternative to the NSWNA is found to represent Registered Nures.

  4. The title of "Director of Information Management " in the SWAHS Executive is very telling on the culture of SWAHS.

To encourage other staff to speak out, you have the option of selecting "Anonymous" when commenting. The blogger works in the hospital and knows if comments are true or not. False comments will be removed.
